Factory Instructor Program
Deep Dive. Explore. Reflect. Understand. Inspire.
Building the future of bachata
One of Factory’s main goals is to grow the dance community by reaching new audiences and giving more people the opportunity to discover bachata. Imagine a future where we welcome hundreds of new students every year, offering beginner classes throughout the week so that more people can discover bachata at a time that suits them.
To give new dancers the best possible start on their dance journey, we need great instructors. But being a great dancer and being a great instructor are two different things. Teaching requires a wide range of skills, far beyond simply knowing how to dance. It requires understanding how and why things work, and being able to communicate that knowledge effectively.
That’s why we’re launching the Factory Instructor Program, investing in the next generation of bachata instructors and building for the future.
What is the Factory Instructor Program?
An educational program combining theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and reflection sessions to help dancers develop their teaching skills and deepen their understanding of dance.
Many instructors start teaching without much support or guidance. We believe that a structured program, with opportunities to learn, practice, and reflect alongside others, can make the journey into teaching both easier and more rewarding, while helping future instructors build confidence and develop their teaching skills.
The program includes:
Regular seminars, approximately once per month, covering teaching methods, dance technique, music theory and musicality, communication, and other relevant topics.
Factory Curriculum, providing a structured foundation for understanding what to teach, how to teach it, and why.
Practical teaching experience through participation in Factory Beginner Courses, observing and assisting from an instructor’s perspective.
Reflection sessions before and after classes to discuss teaching methods, challenges, and learning experiences.
Digital discussion forum, where participants can share reflections, ask questions, and exchange ideas between in-person sessions.
An international instructor community, where participants can support each other’s development through digital platforms and in-person sessions, for example at festivals.
Note: This is not a style-specific certification program, but a general instructor education program covering pedagogy, teaching principles, and techniques applicable across different bachata styles.
Who is it for?
You don’t need to be an advanced dancer or have many years of experience to join, but we expect you to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals, both theoretically and practically. Your development as a dancer and as an instructor can and should go hand in hand.
You should have experience attending regular bachata courses and, most importantly, a genuine interest in developing yourself, both practically and theoretically, as a dancer and potentially as an instructor.
You don’t need to have decided to become an instructor. The program is equally relevant for dancers who simply want to take a deeper dive into understanding dance. Learning to explain what we do and why challenges us to reflect on our own dancing in new ways. This process can make us better dancers, even if teaching isn’t our immediate goal. You might simply want to develop your skills today and discover a passion for teaching at a later stage.
For those who wish to take the next step, there will be an optional examination and the opportunity to earn a diploma.
Note: Participation does not guarantee an instructor position, but participants in the Factory Instructor Program will naturally be among those we consider when recruiting new Factory instructors in the future.
