factory level up
READY TO TAKE YOUR DANCING TO THE NEXT LEVEL?
Duration: 1 semester
Type of class: Mostly partner work, but the group decides
Level: Advanced. Note: Level assessment required
Semester duration: Tuesday 27 Jan - 16 June, 2026
Time: 1,5h class 19.30-21.00, and practice 21.00-21.30
Studio location: Fernanda Nissen skole, Sandakerveien 112, 0484 Oslo
This course is designed for instructors and other advanced dancers who want to dive deeper into technique, creativity and connection. Together we’ll explore more advanced concepts and challenges in a safe, supportive and team-based environment, with rotating session leaders and extra spice from international guest instructors. If you’re passionate, curious and committed, you’re in the right place among like-minded dancers. Let’s get nerdy together!
Structure
When there’s no guest instructor, group members will rotate as process leaders of the sessions. We like to call it process or session leader instead of instructor, because these sessions are meant to be more interactive and collaborative, rather than strictly following a traditional teacher-student model. Being a process leader is optional, while it’s natural for more experienced members to take the lead more than once per semester.
Following the Factory Core values of fairness, anyone who leads a session will receive fair instructor pay.
Semester Planning
At the start of each semester, the group will create a shared overall semester plan based on the members interests and goals. Since this is a collaborative space, everyone will have the opportunity to suggest topics and vote on what gets included. Some potential topics:
* Deep dives into bachata techniques
* Feedback sessions
* Role rotation
* Shared online courses
* Festival recaps and review sessions
* Techniques and fusion with other styles
* Jack & Jill training
* Choreography production
* Demo practices
GUEST INSTRUCTOR
We’re thrilled to host our new international guest instructor Javi Sebastian from Spain, who will be running Level Up in a masterclass format most weeks from the end of February until the beginning of June!
PRICE TO JOIN
There will be a semester fee to join the group. The fee is only intended to cover the studio rental and instructor pay, and everyone pays the same amount (no discounts available). The exact fee will depend on the total number of group members, but expect approx. 2300 NOK/semester (~57 NOK/hour). Factory membership is required to join, as Level Up is one of our core concepts running throughout the entire semester at a self-cost price. The fee can be paid all at once, or divided into two payments (January and April).
MERCH
Everyone in the group will get a Level Up t-shirt for free! Preferred colors and sizes will be registered during the first two sessions of the semester.
Who can apply
Experienced dancers and instructors are welcome to apply. You don’t have to be a professional dancer in any way to join, but we expect you to have taken classes on higher levels before, and not only be an experienced social dancer. If you’re not sure about your level, please reach out to us.
APPLY for level up
Apply to the group by signing up for this course (0 NOK), and we'll contact you. If you haven't been part of Level Up before and we don't know your level, be prepared to send a social dance video or meet for an audition.
Next intake
This application is valid for the 2026 spring semester. Deadline for application: Sunday 25 Jan 2026. Accepted Level Up members will get invoiced at the course start.
Drop in
To help our group grow steadily and maintain a safe, supportive environment, we don’t accept unscheduled drop-ins. If you’re an instructor/advanced dancer visiting Oslo and interested in joining one of our sessions, or if you have any other questions, please contact us at bachatafactoryoslo@gmail.com
